Queen Hatshepsut

I thought it would be fun to try making a lifelike representation of Hatshepsut, the Egyptian Queen who reigned in the Middle Kingdom roughly 4000 years ago.  I used a statue of her as a reference as well as contemporary artifacts including the headdress and banded necklace that would have been worn by pharaohs.

I think I did a pretty good job though I certainly stretched this project out longer than I ever would have imagined.  Life has been a bit hectic and stressful and taking time to paint seemed difficult.  But I stuck to it and finished it.

I love ancient Egypt and someday I hope to make a visit there to see the monuments and artifacts of that time period firsthand.
